Hypoglycaemia webinar to take place during national awareness week

Professor Ketan Dhatariya will explore how the sudden unavailability of GLP-1s has impacted diabetes care during a webinar discussion next month.

The event will be held during Hypo Awareness Week on Tuesday, September 12, between 2pm and 3pm.

It will discuss how the shortage has led to a shift in prescribing and how people on these drugs for diabetes need to be moved to alternative agents.

Professor Dhatariya, Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology, is hosting the event, which will go through some of the information that ABCD and PCDS has suggested to minimise the impact of these changes.

Entitled ‘Why unavailability of GLP-1 receptor analogues has a knock-on effect, raising the risk of hypoglycaemia’, the webinar is only available to diabetes teams who have registered for Hypo Awareness Week.

Hypo Awareness Week 2023 is taking place across the UK and Ireland from Monday, September 11 to Friday, September 17.

The national campaign gives the diabetes community the chance to discuss, and roll out education about, hypoglycaemia across UK hospitals and primary care settings.
