New resource to support Hospital at Home staff

Healthcare Improvement Scotland has revealed it has created a new learning resource to support staff looking to work within Hospital at Home.

Hospital at Home aims to reduce hospital admissions for elderly patients by providing treatments in the comfort of their own home.

The service is staffed by multidisciplinary teams made up of nurses, consultants, GPs, Allied Health Professionals and health care support workers who all specialise in the care of older people with acute medical problems in the community.

The new learning resource for staff is called the Hospital at Home (H@H) Knowledge and Skills Development Framework for Healthcare Support Workers, Nurses and Allied Health Professionals Information Hub.

It includes background information on the service, an H@H Development Framework Overview, H@H Development Framework User Guidance, Hospital at Home case studies and a range of resources to support learning and development.

Last year, the Scottish Government made a further £3.6 million available to support the expansion of Hospital at Home services.
