Community nursing careers roadshow

A series of recruitment roadshows are being held to showcase the range of rewarding and skill enhancing roles available in community nursing with the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation.

The roadshow is aimed at student nurses, registered nurses and nurses who would like to return to practice and make a difference where they live and the next event will be held at Bideford Hospital on Saturday, July 15.

Attendees will have the chance to take a tour of the hospital, talk to members of the community nursing team, learn about equipment kit bags, discover the different role options available and even have an interview.

Nurses who would like flexible hours that provide a great work-life balance are encouraged to apply as full and part-time roles are available at locations across Devon and include community inpatient, community nurse, urgent community response, and out-of-hours.

Alison, Community Nurse Team Manager and a Return to Practice Nurse at the Royal Devon, said: “Community nursing is very different to working in a hospital environment which has a much more rapid turnover of patients.

“As a community nurse, you have a lot of contact with the patients and with their families, we really get to know them over the years and it’s amazing to be able to care for someone and see their journey to recovery.

“To anyone looking for independence, excitement, huge variety and the opportunity to build a relationship with their patients I would say try community nursing.”

The Royal Devon Community Nursing Roadshow will be at Bideford Hospital, Abbotsham Road, Bideford, EX39 3AG, from 9am to 12 midday on Saturday July 15.

Future Roadshows events will be held on Saturday August 12, at Exmouth Hospital and on Saturday, September 9, at Honiton Hospital.
