New resources to support primary care staff in identifying and supporting individuals “at risk” of developing type 2 diabetes

Trend Diabetes has launched a new leaflet designed to support primary care staff working with people at risk of developing diabetes.

With more than seven million people in the UK deemed to be at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, these resources come at a critical time to address this growing health concern.

Being at risk of diabetes is characterised by blood glucose levels that are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be classified as diabetes.

Recognising the urgent need for guidance and resources, Trend Diabetes has developed a comprehensive leaflet to aid primary care staff in identifying and supporting these individuals.

This leaflet also provides crucial guidance for those already diagnosed as at risk of developing diabetes, helping them make lifestyle changes to delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.

June James, Co-Chair of Trend Diabetes and Independent Consultant in Diabetes Nursing, emphasised the importance of this new resource: “The increasing number of individuals considered at risk of diabetes in the UK presents additional challenges for our healthcare services.

“This new leaflet aims to equip GPs. other healthcare professionals and people who are at risk with the tools they need to support efforts to reverse this condition by making simple changes to diet and activity levels.”
