Voting opens for the next RCN President

The election to decide the next Royal College of Nursing (RCN) President is now open.

The four candidates in the running are Professor Julie Green FRCN, Tristan Griffin, Sheila Sobrany and Maria Trewern.

The President acts as an ambassador for the nursing profession and represents the RCN to its members, stakeholders and the public across the UK and internationally.

They also serve as a full member of RCN Council.

Chair of RCN Council Carol Popplestone said: “The President is an ambassador not just for the RCN, but for the whole nursing profession both in the UK and around the world.

“I would urge you to have your say on who you’d like to see represent you.”

RCN members are invited to attend a virtual hustings tonight (3 November) from 7pm to 8pm, to hear directly from candidates and ask them questions. Follow the link for more information about how to attend and submit a question.

Current RCN Deputy President Tracey Budding was re-elected unopposed to the role earlier this year and will start her second term of office on 1 January 2023.

The vote will close on 5 December, with voting being conducted by postal ballot.
