RCN hosts online community nursing consultation session

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) wants nurses to tell it about how their experience of community nursing is changing.

Nurses who work in a community setting, including district nursing and school nursing, have been asked to share their experiences of how roles in community nursing are being transformed where they work during an online session between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Tuesday, May 7.

During the event, the RCN will also share what it is doing on members’ behalf.

In an effort to ensure national consistency, and to enable professionals to practice at a level that meets current and future healthcare needs, the Scottish government introduced the Transforming Roles programme.

A short-life working group was established in 2017 under the programme to refresh the role and educational requirements of general practice nurses, but the impact of COVID-19 has delayed the delivery of the programme.

Nursing staff in community settings have the opportunity to play a central role in transforming the health care system to create a more accessible, high-quality, and value-driven environment for patients.

The RCN will use the information gained from this event to help shape its future strategy and direction so it can influence the transforming roles programme and nursing practice on its members’ behalf.

Attendees will need access to the internet via a computer or smart phone to join this event.

This event is being run in partnership with The Queen's Nursing Institute Scotland (QNIS).
