Florence Nightingale Foundation thanks supporters
The Florence Nightingale Foundation took part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge Week which meant that – with the support of some generous partners – donations made to the organisation through the platform were doubled for a week.
The organisation had hoped to raise £10,000, which would be matched by a generous donation of £5,000 from both ShinyMind and Candis Club, meaning if it reached its target, it would raise £20,000.
The money raised would go towards funding its Nightingale Frontline® peer support service. This online safe space was set up during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. It continues to provide its healthcare workers with emotional and wellbeing support: working through leadership challenges and thinking through new approaches to difficult situations.
Over 80 per cent of nurses and midwives reported a decline in their mental health in the past year. Research shows a strong connection between the quality of patient and health care and the emotional and mental well-being of health and care staff.
A spokesperson for the Florence Nightingale Foundation said: “We are delighted to announce that not only did we reach our target, we raised £21,290!
“Huge thanks go to our amazing partners ShinyMind and Candis Club for choosing to support us. And massive thanks go to every person who donated to us during the Big Give Christmas Challenge Week, helping us reach and go beyond our target. We could not have done it without you.
“As a registered charity, donations make a huge difference to the work we can do and help us to support more nurses and midwives across the UK to improve care and save lives.”
